I had the honor of photographing my nephew’s baptism at Sacred Heart Church in Oakland, CA on March 3, 2013. Sacred Heart is where my dad & uncles went to elementary school, where my nonni’s funeral was held at, and where my step-sister went to school as well. A long tradition! The original church crumbled beyond repair in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake here in the Bay Area, so the original church has been replaced with a more modern building. They did keep the original 1902 bell and cornerstone, as you’ll see in the photos.
Russell Wayne Silvey-Hazelwood, son of April Silvey and Russell Hazelwood, was baptized into the Catholic faith with my father, Alan Floyd, and April’s mother, Joanna Loder, as his god parents.
