Hoffman Wedding

On October 8th, I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding ceremony and reception. My sister-in-law, Celeste, married Mike Hoffman at St. Thomas Becket Roman Catholic Church in Veneta, OR. I took lots of great pictures. My favorites are included in the gallery below. I learned some valuable lessons, one of which being to make sure that your back up battery is actually charged! Luckily I was assisted by Bridget Braunger of Syli Pictures, who took some great pictures that aren’t included in the gallery below.

A funny story, before you dive into the photos… attached to the church is a private school, so the bride was scheduled to get ready in the school office for proximity. Celeste, my mother-in-law, Michelle, and I were in the copy room of the office for some privacy helping Celeste get into her gown (which she made herself, check out how gorgeous it is!). Michelle had a hard time closing the door, and when we were ready to leave we found that the door wouldn’t open! We thought it was just that it had locked us in, so one of her sisters went to go get the priest or nuns with keys to let us out. We were horrified to learn that the key wasn’t working to open the door, so we were trapped! Luckily my husband Dominic is a door technician by trade and we had a toolbox inside the copy room, so he talked me through taking the knob off the inside of the door. Unfortunately, the door lock was malfunctioning, and that didn’t work either. So, with the priest’s permission, the Groom kicked the door in! So, pictures were taken after the ceremony instead of before, to say the least!

I’m so pleased with this logo design – I think it’s the best I’ve done so far! It’s easy to work with a client that is available and has an idea of what they want – easy to please! This logo is for RailroadRedux.com – a blog about getting back into the hobby of model railroad building. Here’s the logo on it’s own:

New Design!

Yes that’s right! I’ve finally upgraded the site with a new look! Hope you like it!

I’ve been working a lot on a new client site and a new web property. I’m almost ready to unveil them! Still ironing out little things and perfecting the details. I’m SUPER proud of the logo I created for the new web property. I’ve got to give a lot of props to Dominic on this one since he’s taking the lead on content for the new site and helped a lot with the look of the logo.

Speaking of web properties, I’ve revamped Girl Scout Guide as well. I’m tweaking some more things there, too, so I’ll be unveiling it’s new design here in a few days.

RachelNuckols.com is now up and functioning. This is a client site, built for a recent graduate of a sound arts program. Ms. Nuckols wanted an online presence to showcase the portfolio work she has put together while attending college. She wanted a simple site that has the media embedded and the descriptions of what she did for each project.

This was my first forray into embedded media beyond video. I worked with different media players for the song files and sound files that were not attached to videos. We finally settled on the simple Quicktime player for all files as it is the least intrusive to the cohesion of the design.

This is version 1.0. We are currently working on a more suitable design. The site is hard coded HTML created in Dreamweaver.
